I have three cats, plus one honorary cat who technically belongs to my roommate, so I’d definitely say I’m a cat person! I’ve actually never had a dog in my life. My family was always super busy, and we never really had the time to take a dog out or keep up with all the attention they need. Cats just fit our lifestyle better because they’re so independent and basically take care of themselves. I love my cats for their little personalities, the way they act like they don’t need you but secretly do, and how comforting it is when I have them around. I just relly like how they’re low‑maintenance, funny, and always make the house feel a little more like home when they are walking around.
Two of my cats are indoor cats back at home. They’re both tabby shorthairs, and we actually named them after the Rocky Balboa movies since my last name is Balboa. The oldest one is named Rocky, and he’s about nine years old now. The other one is named Donnie, after Adonis Creed, but the way she got her name is a funny story. I found her by the garbage cans back in high school when she was just a tiny kitten, and we originally thought she was a boy. By the time we realized she was actually a girl, the name had already stuck, so Donnie just became her forever name!
My outside cat is named Cali. She’s a six‑year‑old calico with a feisty little personality but the sweetest heart. She acts tough, but she’s incredibly loving once she decides you’re part of her circle. Just the other day, she brought a field mouse up to the porch as a “present,” proudly showing off her hunting skills! She’s always hanging around the cleaning table whenever my dad is filleting fish, waiting for little snack or just supervising like it’s her job. Cali is so loyal and full of attitude and she fits perfectly into our family’s outdoor lifestyle.
