My name is Marina Balboa , I am a Digital Media Innovations major here at Texast State University Each course I have taken so far has gives me a chance to be creative in ways I never expected! I enjoy how hands on everything is and how I get to actually build things instead of just learning about them. These classes make me feel confident and inspires me to go further. Studying Digital Media Innovation has made me even more passionate about the creative field I’m stepping into.
I am a student worker for Commencement and running their social media, along with managing the Vice Provost Office of Academic Innovations’ socials! Both positions have taught me so much and have given me incredible opportunities to grow. I’ve learned how to create content that speaks to different audiences, stay organized during busy seasons like graduation season, and adapt quickly when things change. These roles have really pushed me creatively and professionally by helping me build my real world skills in all aspects. I’ve also gained confidence in my ability to take on big projects and represent my departments that impact the entire university!
I come from a small town and I’ve learned how important it is to communicate with a community in a way that feels personal and genuine. I help out running social media for a family owned resturant and a small boutique taught me how to connect with your fellow neighbor. We want to highlight local voices to create content that actually resonates with others. Those experiences and my major has definitely shaped the kind of work I want to do in my future!
