MY TOP HOBBIES

I have a few favorite hobbies! My top three would have to be needlepointing, shopping (if you can even call that a hobby), and fishing. Needlepointing is my go to when I want something calming and creative, and I love watching a design slowly come together stitch by stitch. Shopping is more of a fun little escape for me. I enjoy wandering around stores, finding cute things, and treating myself every now and then. And fishing is something I’ve always loved because it gets me outside, lets me slow down, and gives me a chance to just enjoy the moment.

I love needlepointing ! I love it because it really gets me off my phone and lets my mind rest for a while. Needlepoint can definitely be an expensive hobby. My favorite shop is called Penny Lynn, which is a little bit pricey. So when I just want a quick project, I head to Hobby Lobby and grab one of their small cross‑stitch canvases. Cross‑stitch and needlepoint are like sisters! Cross‑stitch uses a cloth canvas with tiny X‑shaped stitches, while needlepoint has larger holes and uses the continental stitch. Even though they’re a little different, I find both of them super relaxing and a great way to unwind!

I’ve always loved shopping, not just for the things I buy but for the time I get to spend with the people I care about. Going with my sister is one of my favorite things — we’ll wander around, try on cute outfits, and just enjoy doing girly things together. When I was younger, my mom and I would go shopping whenever we were bored, turning a simple trip into our little bonding time. Even now, my friends and I will grab coffees and walk around stores without any intention of buying anything. It’s more about the vibe, the laughs, and the feeling of just being together than it is about actually shopping.

My outdoor hobby would definitely be fishing. I grew up on the water, so fishing is basically all I’ve ever known. My dad is a die‑hard fisherman — he’s actually the reason my name is Marina, which is pretty funny when you think about it. He had my playpen strapped to the boat as soon as I was born, so I’ve literally been fishing since day one. I love it because it gets me outside, lets me slow down, and helps me appreciate the beautiful nature around me. It really grounds me and gives me a break from my busy day‑to‑day life. And honestly, one of the best parts is just getting to spend time with my family while we’re out on the water.
